Owen George Allum grave
Owen George Allum joined the Titanic as a third-class passenger at Southampton. He was travelling to New York City. He lost his life in the disaster. The body of Owen Allum was recovered by the cable-ship Mackay-Bennett, and returned to Boston before repatriation to the United Kingdom for burial. He is interred in his family grave in St Andrew’s Churchyard. The memorial cross carries the following inscriptions (the inscription for Owen is on the reverse of the cross):
Here Rests In Christ Chloe Allum Departed August 17th 1910 Aged 17 Years. "Blessed are the pure in heart"
Here rests in Christ Owen George Allum Shipwrecked On The Titanic and drowned at sea April 14 1912 aged 17 Years. "Nearer My God To Thee"
He lies in a shared plot with his older sister who sadly died, also aged 17, two years earlier.
